Servings: 8
  • 4 oz.(113g) package cherry flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup crème de cacao
  • 8 maraschino cherries, stems intact

EditSteps

Make a basic cherry Jello shot

Cherry gelatin with a maraschino cherry suspended inside give these Jello shots a sweet and fruity cherry flavor.
  1. 1
Boil 1 cup of water in a saucepan on a stovetop.

  2. 2
Add the package of gelatin and stir the mixture with a whisk until the gelatin completely dissolves.

  3. 3
Add the cold water and the brandy, stirring again with the whisk.

  4. 4
Pour 2 oz (60ml) of the gelatin mixture into individual plastic shot glasses.

  5. 5
Refrigerate the shots for 30 minutes or until the gelatin has the texture of cold egg whites.

  6. 6
Place a cherry in each individual shot glass. Use a chopstick or a toothpick to push the cherry into the gelatin as needed. The cherry should appear suspended in the middle of the shot.

  7. 7
Chill for 2 to 4 more hours until the shots are completely set.

Cherry gelatin combined with crème de cacao adds a unique twist to the basic cherry Jello shot.
  1. 1
Boil 1 cup of water in a saucepan on the stovetop.

  2. 2
Add the cherry gelatin to the water, stirring with a whisk until the gelatin completely dissolves.

  3. 3
Whisk in the crème de cacao until well combined.

  4. 4
Pour 2 oz (60ml) of the gelatin mixture into plastic shot glasses.

  5. 5
Chill the glasses for 30 minutes.

  6. 6
Push a cherry into the top of each Jello shot cup. Ensure that the bottom half of the cherry is under the surface of the Jello and the top half of the cherry is visible above the Jello.

  7. 7
Refrigerate for 2 to 4 additional hours until the shots are set.

EditTips

  • Use black cherry gelatin and seeded black cherry halves for a different flavor profile.
  • If you don’t like the brandy in the basic shot, use vodka in its place.
