The Best Multivitamin Supplements

In a 2011 study published in the "Journal of Nutrition," 33 percent of U.S. adults reported taking a multivitamin every day. With dozens of multivitamin bottles lining store shelves, picking which pill's best can be stressful. Don't let the decision-making stress you out. Consumer testing agencies and health publications have named several specific multivitamin products as some of the best options available to you.

Kirkland

You'll find Kirland's line of daily multivitamins in Costco, and its mature, regular and children's products were all praised by "Consumer Reports" magazine. The magazine tested 21 different brands and named the Kirkland products the "biggest winners." It specifically praised the products' USP verification, which ensures nutrient potency as well as a lack of dangerous contaminants, and Kirland's budget-friendly prices.

Centrum Chewables

Centrum's chewable mutlivitamins come suggested by "Real Simple" magazine, especially for people who don't like having to swallow pills. It contains all the nutrients of a typical swallowable pill. Additionally, all of Centrum's multivitamins earned a seal of endorsement by "Pharmacy Times" magazine because the brand was recommended by pharmacists more often than any other multivitamin.

Gummy Vitamins

"Better Nutrition" magazine's panel of 10 doctors, naturopaths and other health practitioners praised Nutrition NOW's gummy vitamins, saying that they provide all the vitamins your child needs. It landed in the magazine's list of 2010's best supplements. Each vitamin comes in a candy-like, fruit-flavored form so your child doesn't have to struggle with unappealing flavors or difficult-to-swallow pills.

One-A-Day Women's

One-a-Day's female-specific product earned a recommendation from "Women's Health" magazine. It earned specific praise for using beta-carotene instead of pure retinol, which may help to reduce your risks of experiencing vitamin A poisoning. Also, to help meet a woman's needs during menstruation, this product contains a higher level of iron compared with male-specific vitamins.
