EditSteps
- 1Buy fresh fruits and vegetables or if you choose, frozen will work nicely. I do not recommend using canned due to high sodium or sugar content.
- 2Prepare and cook the selected foods as normal (without added salt or sugar).
- 3After the food has been thoroughly prepared, allow to cool slightly. Place the food into a small food processor, or a blender will work.
- 4Use a cloth protected hand to gently hold the cover to the appliance in place.
- 5Puree contents until very smooth.
- 6Strain the baby food through a fine mesh strainer eliminating any solids. The baby food is now ready to use. Non- protein foods can be stored, covered, in the refrigerator, for up to four days. Protein food such as meat, can be stored for up to three days. Always date the contents.
EditTips
- Baby food also freezes nicely. Spoon pureed baby food into ice-cube trays that have been sprayed with a non-stick spray and freeze. Once solid remove and wrap individually in plastic wrap and place into freezer bags. Unwrap and microwave (gently) as needed.
EditWarnings
- (Caution: if food is too hot or too much is placed in the appliance pressure from the heat will build, blowing the top off the appliance causing burns and a horrible mess, never leave the appliance unattended).
