Het verhaal begint met de thuiskomst van George (Gerard Butler), een gestopte professionele voetballer wiens gloriedagen reeds lang voorbij zijn. Hij heeft genoeg van zijn leven als playboy en is bankroet na een reeks mislukte investeringen. Hij keert terug naar Virginia om de draad op te pikken met zijn vervreemde ex-vrouw (Jessica Biel) en zijn verwaarloosde zoon. Om het goed te maken wil George het voetbalteam van zijn zoon coachen. Maar kan hij zijn ogen op het doel houden wanneer de tribunes volgepakt zitten met sexy voetbalvrouwen en wanhopige huisvrouwen?

Storyline

A former sports star who's fallen on hard times starts coaching his son's soccer team as a way to get his life together. His attempts to become an adult are met with challenges from the attractive soccer moms who pursue him at every turn.

Patrick Orbéra, la cinquantaine, est une ancienne gloire du football qui a totalement raté sa reconversion. Sans emploi, alcoolique et ruiné, il n’a même plus le droit de voir sa fille Laura. Contraint par un juge de retrouver un emploi stable, il n’a d’autre choix que de partir sur une petite île bretonne, pour entraîner l’équipe de foot locale. Si ils gagnent les 3 prochains matchs, ils réuniront assez d’argent pour sauver la conserverie de l’île, placée en redressement judiciaire, et qui emploie la moitié des habitants. Patrick Orbéra est immédiatement confronté à un obstacle majeur : transformer des pêcheurs en footballeurs quasi-professionnels. Il décide alors de faire appel à ses anciens coéquipiers pour l’aider à hisser le petit club breton parmi les grands…
